EMS
Emergency Musical Services is a 12 piece jazz orchestra that delivers powerful performances and innovative music rooted in the jazz tradition. With Boss Brass, Thad Jones, Marty Paich, Rob McConnell and Quincy Jones as their touchstones, the band’s repertoire consists of all original compositions penned by co-leaders Liam Gallagher (bass) and Marie Goudy (trumpet).
Liam is currently a University of Toronto student who has performed his compositions and arrangements at venues around the city with a variety of ensembles including University of Toronto’s 11 O’Clock Jazz Orchestra and the Hart House Jazz Orchestra.
Marie is a graduate of the University of Toronto who has made her mark on Toronto’s professional scene playing jazz, classical, pop and Latin music. She has performed with many notable musicians including Benny Golson, Maria Schneider and Cleo Laine.

Kelly Jefferson
Toronto-based saxophonist, composer and educator Kelly Jefferson has a Bachelor of Music degree from McGill University in Montreal and a Master’s degree from Manhattan School of Music in New York City.
He has performed with the The National Arts Centre Orchestra, The Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, Montreal Symphony Orchestra, Maria Schneider, Bill Holman, Ray Anderson, Kenny Werner, Phil Woods, Clark Terry, Al Jarreau, Michel LeGrand, Nicholas Payton, Brian Blade, as well as Ray Brown, Sonny Fortune, Randy Brecker, Renee Rosnes, Johnny Mathis, Russell Malone, Joey DeFrancesco, and Dee Dee Bridgewater, among others.
Kelly is presently on faculty at the University of Toronto and York University, where he teaches saxophone, small ensembles, jazz theory, aural training and improvisation.
